McCain alleges Obama has no record but McCain does ~ a broken one: "POW-click-POW-click-POW-click-POW-click-POW-click ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~, McCain ought to be thankful he was captured. Without that experience, his life would have all the allure of yesterday's mashed potatoes. Maybe he can trot Puss-in-Boots Palin out about three times a week to keep the Righties from falling asleep. Moreover, she will ultimately have to tell us what the GOP platform is this season. McCain hasn't. I'm not certain he has been cleared to do so. Remember his campaign stating "he doesn't speak for the campaign. Perhaps he doesn't speak for the party, either.
You obviously didnt even listen to the speech tonite! Strong security, lower taxes, increased individual rights for education, decreased central government, and service to our nation are all planks in the Republican platform which McCain spelled out tonite. Instead of blind hatred and ignorance, try thinking for yourself and listen opposing views....then you may have an argument...
Yeah we did listen to the speech and the number of distortions, lies and factual errors John McCain blurted out was staggering...
To American: post #28.1.....
You might as well save your breath..... You cannot do a battle of wits with unarmed people.
To American -
I heard the speech alright, but other than saying "storng security, lower taxes, better education, blah blah blah...." McCain offered virtually NOTHING specific on any of the points. HOW is McCain going to provide strong security? HOW is he going to lower taxes and where is he going to cut spending or find replacement funding... If McCain has answers, he sure didn't give them tonight...
To Mr. Creek -- brilliant argument.
I listened to both speeches - Obama's & McCain's - there was no substance to how Obama would improve our lives. His also were the one liners - but that's what nomination speeches are for. They introduce the nominee - give you some idea as to what they would do if elected. The debates will form the core of their policies & provide insight on how well they can do or plan to do the things they promise. Their interviews & speeches will also provide the information needed by the American people to decide who our next president will be. Listen to the coming interviews and speeches, that will tell you more of what their plans will be. I'm a military veteran, working mother, and an American. Senator McCain is right, we need to come together as American's, working for the good of our country and put it back on track. And make no mistake, this downward spiral did not start with Bush, it's been coming on for a very long time, and we the People of this country have allowed it to happen. We keep re-electing the same people over and over again. It is not only the President who needs to accept the responsibility for the state of this country, it's also the congress & house.
"We need to come together....."
"Is that why Palin took the podium for the FIRST time and took one (non credible) shot after another at Obama"?
The entire week was a mixed message of Mavericks Staying the Course. We will move ahead by looking back. That is the definition of conservatism, right?
Yes, TB in SD, that is how you move ahead....by looking back and learning from the mistakes that have been made, THEN moving FORWARD. THAT IS THE DEFINITION OF HAVING A BRAIN AND ACTUALLY USING IT.
Upscheidt Creek: So what have we learned from the last eight years? And when do you plan to stop looking back and moving forward?
We will start moving forward the very day that the next President of these great United States of America, John McCain, takes office!!! Anymore questions?
Seems like most of the posers here got some good stuff this week. they are all high.
dont bother trying to educate them, they dropped out of high school. and now they want a free college education so they can drop out.
I saw the light long before Obama. He is false hope. McCain is the lesser evil. Thats all we have again. the lessor evil.
I'll go with straight talk over hate talk.
Obama still cant say the surge worked. OMG he's a head case! look into the light. open your mouth. take a drink. it wont hurt. I am the chosen one. Choose me.
Newsflash...
The troop surge in Iraq has been more successful than anyone could have imagined, Barack Obama conceded Thursday in his first-ever interview on FOX News' "The O'Reilly Factor."
As recently as July, the Democratic presidential candidate declined to rate the surge a success, but said it had helped reduce violence in the country. On Thursday, Obama acknowledged the 2007 increase in U.S. troops has benefited the Iraqi people.
"I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated," Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge. "I've already said it's succeeded beyond our wildest dreams."
However, he added, the country has not had enough "political reconciliation" and Iraqis still have not taken responsibility for their country.
Creek you dont reward the guy who drove the bus into the ditch by giving him another bus. Its time for the GOP to take a break.
I don't trust them.
VQR
Just which 'posers' are you referring to? I sense more than politics as usual at work here. What is it you really don't like about Obama or those 'posers' whom you ASSume have no education and dropped out of school?
Brett:
You're right that Obama admitted that the surge has succeeded. Judging by the available data regarding the number of sectarian attacks and casualties, that is correct. But no one ever seems to ask the next question: how did the surge succeed?
We hear a lot about how the surge had many elements in addition to the sending of additional U.S. troops to Iraq. As Gen. Petraeus points out, there were also intelligence, diplomatic and local political elements. One of those was paying off Sunni militias to get them to stop cooperating with Al Queda in Iraq. We now have about 100,000 Sunni insurgents on our payroll.
I think that has a lot more to do with the success of the surge than increasing our troop presence by 19% did. As good as our troops are, there was never any reason to think that 160,000 of them would be that much more successful in stopping sectarian violence than 130,000 of them had been. Remember that our best military minds originally said that it would take 300,000 or more U.S. soldiers to successfully occupy Iraq.
Passing out greenbacks to buy off tribal combatants was also a big part of how we gained our initial successes in Afghanistan. But, as we've seen in Afghanistan, it only seems to work while the money is flowing. I don't like paying money to warlords in Iraq, but I'd rather achieve our objectives by spending dollars than by spending lives.
But let's all be very clear about just how the surge succeeded, and that that success is most likely going to be temporary, at best.
CapitalK
Do u really need is spelled out?
Well...I'l try to explain it. My numbers are not exact but, Obama wants to give all a college education for low cost. We have that already and many, myself included, have used the system. Somewhere around 75%, in some areas, of inner city kids drop out of high school. High school is free and people dont want to use it. The problem starts there.
As far a posers. It seems that the Obama campaign is engaged in a double standard. They want to dish it out, but when they get it back, they cry foul. Bunch of whinners. It also seems that the campaign has placed posters here to attack anyone who disagrees or posts against Obama. Cheap, low class tactics. If you post against Obama you are called a racist. Very low class. For me, its not color. Its content and character. For me, Both candidates fall short, but Obama is farther away from what I want than McCain.
As far as education, many Obama supports are very young and naive. Little college, many dont have a HS or GED. Many dont have kids, low wage jobs, and so on. Yes, I know. I lot of higher educated are in there too. But, if you look at what is posted here, there is a huge difference in the way each cadidates supporters post. Its reflective of their candidates
Also, I must comment on the lack of minorities at the RNC. The red states are mostly rural. Few minorities. The DNC over exposed the monorities and the DNC admitted that there were over 2 times as many minorities at the convention as in the population. The Hollywood effect if you will.
I do not vote by party, color, sex, religion, etc. I vote onn the issues and who I think will best serve. Period. Maybe, if you did the same, McCain would get your vote. Otherwise, vote for whomever you think will best serve you. Its that simple.
Sorry, John, we respect that you did your duty and miore in Vietnam. However, so did many other pow's, all who also were offered the chance to go home early, and all who declined. You were honorable then, but do we want to elect a man for what he did over 40 years ago? Your experience then colors all of your views, and unfortunately, one of the things you are prone to is war first, diplomacy last.
Your party has done more harm to this country in the last 8 years than we even know yet, and you really have been very little of a maverick. During this election period, you have caved in to all of your rightwing side of the party...why would we think you might be different if you get elected. Your issues are on the wrong side of what is good for this country NOW, not 40 yrs ago.
Palin is dangerous --- removing books from libraries; teaching only abstinance in schools (yeah, that went a long way, didn't it?); and then the whole idea of the public vs. private school thing --- an obvious nod to the conservative right. I am tired of having religion shoved down my throat --- I have strong religious beliefs, but they are personal. Don't push all this down my throat. And don't tell me the choice of Palin as a running mate wasn't planned to make the ticket appealing to men as well as women --- telling me what a great thing it was for the Republican party to nominate a woman (finally) for a high office. Not only did the Democrats do that years ago, but they are working on color barriers this time which the Republicans seem to have backwards on judging from the absence of people of color at this convention.
In all, I think the whole thing was horrible --- there wasn't anything there to be excited about. People were more excited about Palin last night which leaves a bad taste in my mouth --- if they win and she becomes VP --- what do we have to look forward to in 4 years --- Palin for President???
Well said Fedora
McCain was 894 of 899 at the Naval Academy, then got himself shot down over Hanoi and made an anti-American propaganda "confession" for the North Vietnamese. He never made it past the rank of captain even though he was in the Navy for 21 years. Yes, he was a POW, but that doesn't make him qualified to be President. He also proposed to Cindy before he ever filed for divorce from Carol - his children were so offended they didn't even attend his wedding. So much for family values, too. Obama and Biden are infinitely more qualified than McCain and Pain.
So basically, his answer is, if you've lost your job, lost your house, you could support your family on $5/hr while you go to community college and get re-trained to hopefully get a better-paying job...
If you can afford to send your kid to a better school, then do it, otherwise...good luck.
This guy obviously doesn't get it. We can hardly keep the teachers that we already have. The idea is to keep the jobs, not wait for us to lose them before offering the necessary training. How about medical care? What exactly was his plan for that again? Oh...none...Reducing college tuition?
It was exactly what I expected. Be afraid of the terrorist; Obama is not ready; only I can save you from the terrorists; 9/11...9/11; I was a POW.
Did I mention how tacky it was to invoke the images of 9/11? Sick! More of the same, and what we need is change!
It's what Barack said. The GOP calls it an "ownership society", which means you're on you own. Every man, women and even child for themselves. Pay your taxes so the rich don't have to and keep your mouth shut except to sing the national anthem when told to. And never, ever dare to ask the government for help with anything you cry baby! Do as you are told! When you are told to do it! What's the matter with you loser?!? Don't you love America? Then stand on your own two feet even if you lost them in another war! CRY BABY! Quit complaining whiners! SHUT UP!
McCain's speech left 'everything' to be desired.
I have watched this man in the senate for years and frankly I think he woulld be a lousy president.
He does not understand what is going on in our country nor does he have what it takes to help move our country forward in a positive directin.
He has a volatile and abusive temperament. He has leaned on his experience as a POW to get him elected WAY TOO MUCH!!
It is time for some real change in the white house. The republicans have had control in the white house for the past 8 years. We are not safer. Our economy is in shambles, wages are down, and the value of the dollar is down so our ability to just get by is challenged. The republicans do not deserve any more time in the white house.
I am ready for President Obama and Vice President Biden to lead our country in a healthy new direction.
Completely agreed. How can McCain claim that 1) we need change 2) that change will come by electing him and throwing the "old washington" OUT of Washington when he himself is a Washington insider from the party that has led us into disaster over the past eight years???????
WHAT WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM THE PAST EIGHT YEARS?!
HOW WILL YOU FIX THE ECONOMY?!
-- Lower taxes?
-- Lower spending?
ISN'T THAT WHAT BUSH WAS CLAIMING TO DO?
I for one, (for two if you count me and McSame), DON'T GET IT!?
Oh - nevermind, there was one black man just on.... course he was a reported.
The republican party... representing WHITE America for years :P
John McCain is as great a Hero as others who have defended this country honorably. My two brothers
died in Iraq two years ago defending this great country John McCain and I love dearly. He is telling his story like he was the only one who suffered for his country. I love my country dearly that if am called to serve today I would not hesitate for a second. I wonder why he is making a big deal out of nothing.
What this country needs right now is someone who will not only remind us how strength and battle could assure us peace but somebody who makes proper judgement as to whether or not the battle calls for a good reason. Grand father McCain will jump to war the moment he hears that the president of Iraq insults his reputation. We don't need a hurt tempered angry man in the oval office unless we intend to elect George W Bush in the incarnation of McCain, willing to go kill Abinajad like he killed Sadam.
I would be very happy if I don't hear his war story again. He think it magnetizes voters. In fact it turns voters off. Please discuss some important issues that your fellow republicans are yawning to hear.
! You have a 100 font TelePrompTer and still struggles for word! You are too old sir, go to sleep.
My two brothers
died in Iraq two years ago defending this great country John McCain and I love dearly.
I am genuinely sorry for the loss of your brothers, Agnes. I truly am and in no way do I fail to recognize and honor their sacrifice. But my dear lady, they did NOT die defending this great country. They unfortunately died defending a deceitfully manufactured justification to be in Iraq at all. Iraq never threatened us and couldn't carry out a threat even if they had made one ~ which they didn't. The truly hideous fact is that your brothers believed they could trust their commander-in-chief to be honest and forthright . Sadly, that belief was placed in vain. Maybe you can find some comfort in knowing that your brothers and the thousands of others who died defending a lie are the only ones who brought honor to this nation. Its president didn't ~ and the rest of our government is too spineless to honor the fallen soldiers by holding their commander-in-chief accountable for his deceit. I truly regret that for it dishonors all those who paid the greatest sacrifice in upholding the oath they swore in allegience to the USA.
It sounds like you are the one who is angry. If you believe that McCain would start a war with some country because they said something bad about him, then you have no idea who and what John McCain is. He didn't start this war with Iraq, he didn't lie to the American people as to why we should fight, but he sure in the hell is not going to tuck tail and run either. He is going to have to clean up the mess that this present administration has made in order to bring our troops home. Your brothers died fighting for the freedoms you and the rest of us enjoy today. Your brothers elected to fight, because they love this country and knew the possibility of being killed while in Iraq, but the freedoms of their country meant more. Had Bush sr. taken care of Sadam when we were there in Desert
Storm, there would be no war there today. Why doesn't anyone get that? The problems we are faced with today have been around long before this, and you all are mad at the wrong people.
I just don't get it why americans do not want change
people are losing there jobs, houses, college students can't even afford an proper
education. Food prices sky rocket along with gas not to mention the winter is coming and i'm wondering how much it will cost to heat a home for a family of four.
Also Senator Mccain picked someone he only
knew for one day to be VP of the United States of America who has 5 childern one who needs all of her attention and a daughter who got knocked up at 17 teen wow. This is the image we are puting out there to our teenage girls yea get knocked up and married instead of educating yourself.
If it was the democratic party MCcain would have a run with this
nothing to make me change my vote OBama all the way to the White house baby!!!!!!!
Hey hypocrite...FYI...Obama was born of an unwed mother of just over 18...She too was pergnat at 17...You fools have stood in the way of developing and expanding Americas energy production for the last 30 years. Go hug a tree and pee in your gas tank...Remeber The taxes on a gallon of gas are 24 cents...The net profit (After expenses for you liberals) The profit to the oil company is 09 cents. Those big bad oil companies...Relax...do not worry about winter...Global warming remember....You house will soon be a cinder...
More koolaid for my friends. Hail to the new god Obama...Born of a 18 year old unwed mother...You put it in play...Too bad you parents weren`t gay.
Happy sac
u forgot the part about the polygamist father. the muslum school. if only his mom had an abortion.... makes you think?
Wow-does anyone on this discussion board think for themselves? Hatred and vile lies...
Well now, don't just be a critic, American ~ start a trend. Tell us what you think, and love.
Lies? Or is it all not what you want to read? When 90% of the board disagrees with you, your candidate is in trouble. A lot of the responses were very specific in their criticisms.
I'm speechless! Almost as speechless as John McCain! Millions of people across the globe just experienced firsthand the worst bombing on American soil since Dec. 7, 1941. Issues? We apparently don't need any stinking issues - at least some kind of hint as to how he (McCain) is going to improve our Country and all of our lots in life over the next four years. Unfortunate. I actually went into tonight with an open mind hoping to hear substance - instead I got stuck with old war stories and what appeared to be a desperate plea for the pity vote. My mind is definitely made up. May God Bless America.
The Japs did not bomb American soil. Duh. They bombed Hawaii, not a state at the time. Go get that GED! So you gave up your mind? No news there. LOL
VOR - you are the idiot. The Japanese bombed a United States naval/military installation, which is considered American soil. What a loser.
Obviously, the anti-Obama crowd here fails to think for themselves and wonder what would happen if 72 year old McCain dies in office, and Ms. Palin becomes president. You question Obama's ability to lead and his experience, then blindly accept the possibility that we may end up with an in-experienced soccer mom as president. Scary.
shekki
Research it. You're wrong. In some cases a base is considered US Soil. Not the case here. You'll learn.
BTW, calling people names and attacking them makes you appear weak and foolish. Bullying is a nice tactic. Maybe you are a Republican after all. LOL
So you're saying that the GOPs inexperienced candidate is worse that your inexperienced candidate. They seem to have something in common, but you want your inx in charge. What does that say about you? Oh, a Gov actually is in charge of something. Obama has never lead anything, and judging from his wife, he's not in charge at home.
Good luck and God bless!
THIS POW REJECT IS ONE STRAIGHT TALKING DOUCHEBAG! ALL THE 'RAT-WINGERS' COMPLAINED ABOUT BARACK OBAMA NOT WEARING HIS LAPEL PIN, WHERE IN THE HELL WAS JOHN MCLAME'S LAPEL PIN? SO FULL OF BUSH-@!$%#! NO MCPALIN IS GONNA RUN THIS COUNTRY!
NOw I gotta go look...How could you mis wearing a lapel pin on a night like tonight....
The purpose of the Democratic National Convention seemed to be to unite the party, whereas the it seems John McCain's single purpose was to divide the Republican Party. Did anyone else notice most of the convention was an indictment of the poor leadership provided by his own party over the last 8 years?
If we add up the week of the RNC what do we get? Massive protests outside -- with massive retaliation . . . ouch. Protests during McCain's speech . . . bigger ouch! Inconsistent message from conservatives, moderates, elitists (from NYC), former democrats (and Judas Goats) and religious fanatics. And they reached out to. . . themselves. As an 'average' American, the week just showed me that the GOP is, indeed, out of touch and out for themselves.
So you noticed the rude liberals too!
I agree -the GOP is out of touch. Everything from the VP candidate to the showing of the 9/11 tape. In no way does Palin represent the American women's values. Parading your pregnant 17 year old daughter on stage with her boyfriend hand in hand was disgraceful. Yes, I know families should be left out of it but the Republican's are using it themselves. I actually think it was a sweet addition to the package - look, we are Pro-life and here is an actual person who proves it.
The 9/11 tape was sick. Can the victims ever rest in peace or will the Republicans continue to drag it up? They happened to be in office when this occurred - period. They did not do anything miraculous about it - they dealt with it like the rest of us. The pictures were much too graffic and did not serve any purpose in being shown. I really don't see the video as having any bearing on this election.
BTW - McCain's speech last night? It was so exciting I fell asleep. I did happen to see people being removed from both Palin's and McCain's speeches, though. Very interesting. I love seeing people bodily removed :).
This election the GOP is presenting the exact same choice they have the last two times. A doddering fool at the top of the ticket and an evil fascist want-to-be for VP. I see no real difference between Bush/Cheney and Mccain/Palin.
Cannot help myself for plagerizing this from an earlier post and adding it to yours.
I believe the quagmire you refer to is: McBush and Chick Cheney
BTW, if the are going to invoke 911 in this matter (Giuliani appeasers), that where the hell is Bin Laden??? I fogot, if they kill thier boogy-man then they lose their trump card called fear.
Hi Country First,
Based on your incredibly elequent anti McCain rant, I would like to help buy you a ticket to go live in the People's Republic of China. They have great food, a talented, focused communist regime, and you should probably feel quite at home there based on your hatred for our country and our military.
Nice, apperntly the definition of communist has changed. You can now be labeled a commie for for pointing out GOP hyprocrasy ..
So in effect, we are being asked to vote for the unknowns ~ McCain offers no specifics and Palin offers only what the Bush-squad tutors have stuffed her with over five days. We are certain to get some "change" from that set-up. I can hardly wait for the "well, what about Obama...................."
Ten ~ nine ~ eight ~ seven ~ six ~ five ~ four ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~!
How far off could you be? For one thing, McCain would not even think about letting anyone from the Bush admin. to tutor his dog, let along Palin. What so many of you fail to understand is that Bush does not like McCain. Bush referred to McCain as a " Liberal Wuss". From what I heard on the radio, McCain's people would not allow Bush to even be at the convention.
As far as McCain not offering specifics, well he most certainly did. The biggest one was taking the money that our country has been giving to these countries that can't stand us and who refuse to stand with us and put it back into the hands of the American people by lowereing taxes. McCain stated that it was time that we gave control back to parents as far as having a say in their childrens education. He also said that those who have lost jobs, and couldn't find work, he said that he would see that there would be programs to help these people be retrained for other jobs, and that they would be paid while they are being retrained. He is going to give the power back to the people instead of having the goverment tell the American people what to do. You see that is what is stated in our Contitution, that our goverment was formed for the people by the people.
Clinton had the opprotunity to drill for oil and to find other sources to help the energy problem, but he said 10 years was too long to wait. We would have been already getting the oil from the same wells he said would take to long to drill, infact we would have been in our 3rd year had he gone ahead with the drilling.
As for the war in Iraq, it's true McCain is against pulling our troops out like Obama wants to do. It's total suicide for our country to tuck tail and run. He didn't start this war, he didn't tell the American people a bunch of b.s so that we could go over to Iraq and fight. You see, he knows that there should have never been a war in Iraq. But because "pappa Bush" decided to go soft during the most critical time of the the Gulf War, we are unfortunatley fighting now. Bush sr. kept his Gen. Swartzcoff from getting Sadam and taking down his goverment during the Gulf War. And Swartzcoff had everything in place to take Sadam down, but Bush refused to let him do it, so when Bush jr gets into office he was out to do one thing and that was to find anyway he could to finish the job his "daddy" failed to do. Take down Sadam.
I am not ready to give someone like Obama the most powerful office in the Country when he has not even run a city, state , nor has he served his country. The guy is suffering from delusions of grador by thinking that he is capable of running the US without first having the experience of running a city or state. And he DOES WANT TO RAISE YOUR TAXES, HOW DO YOU THINK HE IS GOING TO GET HIS GOVERMENT RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEMS IN PLACE? BY COLLECTING ALUMINUM CANS? HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA.
No matter how hard I try I see the same Republican Agenda, Big Oil, Rich get Richer, and Devision, with my way or no way, attitude. Too much emphasis on military and him knowing about war, instead of advocating peace. He claims to want to work bipartisan, but look at the negative ads and the speeches his friends have given. I also have problems with the faces of America not being represented. Where are the African Americans, Hispanics, Native American the downtrodden in the audiance????
I truly felt during the Democratic Convention that it was all inclusive, and not just about a Hero.
And Gov Palin made me feel less of a woman because I'm not a gun toting Hocky Mom,and not in the PTA, However, I have raised 5 children, and my second oldest son left for Bagdad today and forgive me but I cried that my son is in a war that I always thought was WRONG! I don't pray that the war was Gods Plan. I pray to God he comes back alive and emotionaly intact!!!!!!
My deepest repect to you and your young soldier.......may he return to you safely.
Confused - I too was very moved by your post. We are ALL trying as best we can to get your son home safely and QUICKLY...
Everyone should have to read your post before they walk into the voting booth...
Everyone should know by now who *I* support...
I really feel your pain, and I pray for your son. I have an uncle who spent the majority of his life in service and now wants out, put in his paper work which was scheduled to be approved in december. Now he has orders to go back to Iraq for the second time this war and the third time if you count the gulf. Its sickening.
What republicans don't want you to know is that the military prays on the poor and uneducated youth in order to enlist them for this unpopular war. How many military scouts do you see on a community campus compared to how many you see in harvard or yale, again its sickening.
How many of these officials that you support have their kids in iraq. I think Palin will join the ranks of a few. But believe it, her child won't have to be in danger like many of my family or your family will be. I guarantee now that she is vp pick, his military experience will be just like Prince Williams.
How can Palin say she knows what it feels like to have your kid shipped off, when she secretly knows he'll be okay. She isn't like the rest of us crossing our fingers and praying for our loved ones to come home from this mistake.
She, like Mccain, is out of touch. I truly believe, after last night McCain glorifies his captivity and glorifies the thought of putting others (on both sides) through the same. We can't afford a president like that.
If you feel like you are less than a woman, it's your own doing, not Gov. Palin's. Mc Cain does not condon this war, however he does know that to pull out now would be a sign of weakness and like he told the American people, "I would rather lose an election than lose our country to this war" He didn't start this war, he didn't lie to the ameircan people, but he knows what war IS ABOUT.
You know, your son was not drafted, he signed up on his own volition, so he knew that his chances of being put on the front lines was pretty good. You are the one who is having a problem, not him. He knows that his freedoms have been given to him becouse of people like himself had to fight and some died in order for the rest of us to be able to live free. My nephew was in Iraq during the first days of the fall of Sadam Hussien, when it the chances of being hurt or killed was greater than it is now. Thank God he came home without being hurt, and he came home knowing that what he did played a part in keeping his family safe from the evils of terrorism.
I know yuo are afraid for his safety, all mothers and fathers go through this, but the one thing that you can do is support your son, support the fact that he is fighting for your country, and the freedoms that you have. Tell him how proud you are of him. He is dong this not for himself, BUT FOR YOU AND THE REST OF THE COUNTRY.
Keith Oberman said it best. The clip of 911 was inappropriate to say the least. I guess that was suppose to serve as a reason to invade Iraq and start a war with people who did not do this horrific crime. John McCain is the most narcistic man on earth. I thank him for serving our country but ENOUGH! His answer for everything is he was a POW. Through out his speach he used Obama's words "Serve something greater than yourself" (What a joke after the RNC busted a gut mocking community leaders last night.) Obama said those words at the Westerlin College graduation address when he stood in for Ted Kennedy. "CHANGE" We know who has said this for the past 2 years. It's sad that the only thing McCain has going for him is war and rhetoric. He only cares for the rich and his corrupt buddies in Washington. I have to shake my head when I think about the 26 years he's been in DC and nothing has changed. He needs to stand in front of the mirror and kick his own behind.
Obama08!
So he can't wait til he introduces Palin to Washington --- egads, he sounded like such a dirty old man when he said that.
I feel like he's got the wrong message going here --- and while I recognize he has physical limitations, I swear he looks like a wind-up toy out there. I hate to say it but I think he's too old for the job.
(snap!)
...Squaresville, Daddy'O....all that missing was "The King Family"...and maybe a big ol'
glass of rich, choclatey Ovaltine...
It was like watching a 45 minute info-mercial by Billy Mays on Qualudes...
(snap!)
All the hipsters are voting for Barak...
In your heart...you know he's right...
get hip
Hipsters are just saggy pants wearing retards.
Republicans are an endangered species. But if you ask Palin she would say they don't belong on the endangered species list. The only way they will succeed in taking the presidency if they indeed TAKE it by of some fraudulent way...again. I hate to say it but if they want another war they just might get one if that occurs again. Just as it did when the court stopped all the votes to be counted as they did last time. However, unless of course you don't care about your rights, democracy and is in favor to be ruled under another dictator.
Then the Repukes wonder why there is so much protest with the republicans. Well stripping us of our democracy is a rather good reason in its self among a long list there after to follow. Frankly I am surprised it's not much worse.
As for everyone who's upset with our current situation: I'll first of all confess that, while I'm not rich, I have improved my economic situation even while getting married, preparing to adopt a beautiful step daughter, and my wife having our other daughter. So I'm not feeling the same level of economic pain.
But here's why. For years, my parents slaved away and saved, saved, saved. They grew up in the 60's and 70's but didn't party like rock stars. They are totally disciplined and unselfish people who raised 4 children who are all doing well during this quasi-recession type whatever you'd like to call it.
They knew that life is not fair. You can't legislate fairness, and you can't pass a law that will force everyone to feel the same level of happiness. You can't pass a law that gives everyone the same level of economic advantage. The regimes that claim to do that (in the interest of "fairness" and "the little guy") are ironically the most murderous regimes in the history of the world, mainly the USSR, Communist China, and the National SOCIALIST German Workers Party i.e. the nazis, (yes, they were left of center in turns of governance and policies, but were also terrible racists).
So everyone on this thing can do one of two things: 1. Lean left and embrace Obama/socialism/the artificial and delusional concept of everyone being completely equal., or 2. Embrace individual rights and responsibilities: i.e. McCain. You can try to live a good life, work hard, and do what you can to ensure the security/prosperity of your family and friends. It's really that simple.
I'd dare say it's been like that since the dawn of time, except now we have cool cars, laptops and Ipods. If you doubt me, study some history.
By your account we only have two choices -- one good one bad? How about regression vs. progression or McCain v Obama?
usmcntl-Well said. Obama is a socialist, he is lvoed and adored by nutjob terrorists who love to destroy our way of life, he is a tax and spend fanatic who will not do jack for the workign poor and middle class, just the non working. He will do zilch to help single moms who work full time, but he will dump tons into the communiites of those who think they are "entitled." How many working poor moms get financial aid? Not many. How many folks who are intergenerationally dependent on taxpayers get "help/" Tons. Working folks are screwed today. We pay almost 40% of our income to the gov. Personal property taxes, real estate taxes, income taxes, retail taxes, cigarette taxes, we get punished for improving our homes and our taxes go up. We are taxed to deasth to turn the inner cities into successes and it is not working!!! Working moms benefits from welfare get cut when she gets a minimum wage job as a single parent. Yet the neighbor with 4 kids by as many "baby's daddies" gets increases, free medical care and chilld care to take a few college classes. Not to mention free housing that destroys surrounding communites, WIC, checks, etc. What do taxpaying working single moms get? Zip. Obama does not want to help single moms, and most liberals in congress lie to single moms by making them think they will get help. MOst never will, cuz this out of control gov. just wants minorities and women to depend on democrats. If you work full time, apply for childcare. See if you get "help." Obama is about special priviledges only for those he deems "worthy." I worked in the social services system and it was despicable. They dont care about poor people, just funding for their controling programs. They wont adopt abused infants cuz they want the kids in state run institutions, while mom changes for the 5th or 6th time, or they want them in foster care. All to keep folks under the gov. thumb and dependent on phony liberals in congress. If a woman is on welfare she cannot marry or get a job. Marry the gov. and vote democrat. All you women out there who think dems work for you are being used to get them elected. Obama the socialist will only help "groups," not individuals. I am tired of working single moms being @!$%# on when they are desperately paying taxes to help support the baby daddy crowd.
What about a government who works for the people, not against them... You know, what really amazes me is all the tax dollars going to the military.. and none coming back to you..
You know, many people in socialist countries live happy and well!! Check Norway, the netherland, sweeden... no homeless in the street, the safety net of healthcare for all, good education, good infrastructures, long paid vacations for all and good social programs to make everybody's lives better!! Everything important your capitalistic system does not give you!!
helping others is a moral and ethical obligation that we europeans, but you americans do not understand!
Socialism, capitalism are just words.. they sometime work sometime do not, just depending how much you want the government to do good for the people.
Why are we paying taxes??? should'nt it come back to the people in some ways or another???
before you criticized socialism, check in socialism countries how people live!!! Some socialist countries have the happier people on earth! you idiot.. propaganda works very well in this country.
but PROUDLIBERAL, you forgot that we all got a paltry $600 dollars given to us - HOW YOU ASK SINCE WE ARE A TRILLION DOLLARS IN DEBT COULD THE GOVERNMENT GIVE US MONEY??
Because the Feds simply printed MORE of it to give it to us - of course that just devalued our savings EVEN MORE... so basically the Feds giveth and the Feds devalueth it away...
I hope all the little ole gray haired ladies who vote republican because they think they are looking out for them realize that their little nest-eggs are worth 1/2 of what it was eight years ago...
Thanks BUSH, CHENEY, MCCAIN, KARL ROVE, etc etc etc... your war on terrorism is BANKRUPTING us.... who is actually winning this war?? not the American people...
I know all this... soon your dollar won't be worse s h i t!
While I think that your viewpoints are horribly skewed, I respect your right to have them. That is the difference between Democrats and Republicans. I am so tired of this "my way or the highway" mentality that comes from this tired, old party that is not even a fair demographic representation of Americans throughout our nation.
While it's great that you are in a good situation financially and all; obviously, you are in a minority because thousands of Americans are not. Although I am a Democrat and stauch Obama supporter, I watched the RNC convention. It was nothing more than hypocrisy, lies, attacks against Obama, attacks against the media, more lies, hocky mom with 5 children (what that has to do with being a VP, I don't know), POW (again and again and again and again) and nothing of substance to offer the thousands of suffering American citizens. I think they are nothing but posers with a Machevalian knack of twisting truths and untruths to their advantage who offer no concrete leadership for this country. That's why the Republican Party is shrinking as we speak.
Just rebel rousing, fear monging, and the crass use of devestating events in America's past. And, as a woman, I found Sarah's use of her special needs baby as a prop, seriously disturbing and offensive. Why else did she keep dragging that poor baby to a loud noisy convention night after night? I think McCain may have had a serious chance before he caved into the conservative right; however, Palin is not a representative of mainstream America.
I urge everyone to go out and vote. I want to return to the pre-America before the last 8 years occurred and I seriously fear for our future. We cannot let this woman get 1 heartbeat away from the Presidency! It would be like going backward in time.
We already know what the Republicans are offering and it pretty much does sound like more of the same. I would rather take my chances with Obama who offers real change which isn't some last minute catch phrase to get more votes.
okay facts. ussr and china are communists not socialists
Sweden, Netherlands, and even UK = socialists.
u need to check ur vocabulary
